Patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) have a 50% to 60% likelihood of cure with current immunochemotherapy approaches. However, a subset of patients experience isolated central nervous system (CNS) relapse in the leptomeninges, brain parenchyma, or both. An international multicenter study group performed a retrospective analysis to assess risk factors, therapies, and outcomes for patients with brain parenchymal recurrences.
Researchers identified 113 patients (median age, 61) with brain parenchymal relapses who had achieved complete remission following primary therapy for lymphoma from 1980 through 2004; 83% had DLBCL.
