As our understanding of the toxicity profile of androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) has grown, so has the need for additional prospective evidence to support use of ADT plus radiotherapy for patients with locally advanced prostate cancer. Seeking such evidence, investigators have assessed whether the short-term disease-free survival (DFS) benefits of ADT, shown in the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) 92-02 study (J Clin Oncol 2003; 21:3972), would extend to the longer term.
