Knee arthroscopy, usually performed in conjunction with meniscectomy, synovectomy, or reconstruction of the cruciate ligaments, is considered a minor surgical procedure. As such, debate has focused on whether venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention measures beyond the use of graduated compression stockings (GCS) are warranted for patients undergoing this procedure.
