Prolonging Treatment Response in Follicular Lymphoma

Post-induction consolidation therapy with ⁹⁰Y-ibritumomab tiuxetan radioimmunotherapy prolonged progression-free survival in patients with advanced-stage follicular lymphoma.

Although many effective therapies are available for follicular lymphoma (FL), none are curative. To test the safety and efficacy of consolidation therapy with yttrium-90 (⁹⁰Y)-ibritumomab tiuxetan (Zevalin), investigators conducted an industry-supported, international, randomized trial involving 414 adult patients with FL (stage III–IV, grade 1 or 2). Eligible patients had achieved complete response (CR; including unconfirmed CR) or partial response (PR) after induction therapy (with last dose administered 6–12 weeks before study treatment).
