Sirolimus (Rapamune) is an immunosuppressive agent used for prevention of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic stem-cell transplantation. Based on the antilymphoma activity of other mTOR inhibitors, this agent — an inhibitor of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway — has been postulated to improve outcomes for lymphoma patients undergoing transplantation.
To test this hypothesis, investigators performed a single-institution, retrospective review of 190 adult lymphoma patients who underwent myeloablative or reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) allogeneic stem-cell transplantation.
