Trastuzumab Keeps On Giving

Beneficial effects are long-lasting in patients with HER2-positive, early-stage breast cancer.

The natural history of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer was altered with the introduction of trastuzumab. Initial reports from randomized trials of adjuvant chemotherapy with or without trastuzumab for early-stage breast cancer showed significant improvements in disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS; JW Womens Health Nov 1 2005).
