The field of oncofertility has emerged largely because of the many young cancer survivors who want to have children. No standardized approach for preserving ovarian function exists, and data conflict regarding the efficacy of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues to protect the ovaries during treatment with cytotoxic chemotherapy.
