Although stimulant medications prescribed for children and adolescents with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) have acceptable safety profiles, little is known about two potential usage problems: diversion (transfer of medication from a patient with a prescription to a person without a prescription) and misuse (taking a higher dose than that prescribed).
Investigators evaluated psychotropic medication use in subjects enrolled in an ongoing longitudinal case-control family study of ADHD.
