The AAP recently endorsed recommendations from an expert panel of the American Heart Association for cardiovascular risk management in high-risk pediatric populations. This statement includes detailed recommendations for risk assessment and treatment of children at high risk for coronary artery disease (CAD), including those with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus, and those with a history of Kawasaki disease.
