The Video Interaction Project (VIP) is a novel primary care intervention designed to promote early child development; support the parent-child relationship; and enhance cognitive, language, and social-emotional development. The intervention utilizes videotapes of parent-child interactions in the pediatric waiting room. Investigators assessed the effect of the intervention in a controlled study involving 99 urban Latino children who were considered at risk for developmental delay based on low maternal education and income. The children were randomized at birth to receive either the VIP intervention or usual care by the same primary care providers.
