In 2008, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Committee on Nutrition's revised guidelines on the introduction of complementary foods in infants did not include recommendations about when children should start consuming highly allergenic foods (cow's milk, soy, wheat, egg, peanut, nuts, seafood). Now, the AAAAI provides practical recommendations about how and when to introduce allergenic foods and about primary prevention of allergy through nutritional interventions in high-risk children (at least 1 first-degree relative with allergic disease).
