Low socioeconomic status is associated with lower screening mammography rates. To assess screening-mammography use among older women according to their net worth, investigators analyzed data from 4222 women 65 and older who participated in the nationally representative, population-based, longitudinal Health and Retirement Study in 2002 and 2004. Women with histories of breast cancer were excluded. Based on 2002 data, women were divided into three cohorts according to net worth: low (<$10,000), middle ($10,000–$100,000), and high (>$100,000).
