As many as half of U.S. women experience urinary incontinence associated with impaired quality of life. Midurethral sling procedures are effective and less invasive than older surgeries, making this treatment the first choice for women with stress incontinence. In a randomized 12-month trial that involved nine clinical sites and 43 surgeons, investigators assessed efficacy and adverse events associated with two midurethral sling approaches: retropubic and transobturator.
