Multiple ovulations and follicular punctures associated with in vitro fertilization (IVF) might raise risk for subsequent ovarian malignancies, but data have been contradictory. Investigators conducted a cohort study of 19,146 women who received IVF treatment in the Netherlands and a comparison group of 6006 subfertile women who did not undergo IVF. Incidence of ovarian malignancies and borderline tumors (low-grade, unaggressive malignancies) was determined from nationwide disease registries.
