The FDA has approved an application to market Plan B One-Step (levonorgestrel) emergency contraceptive (EC) for use without prescription to women aged 15 and older, the agency announced late Tuesday, April 30. Previously, nonprescription access to this EC had been restricted to those 17 and older. The decision follows a ruling by a federal judge earlier in April removing all age restrictions from the sale of this EC.
