Several cohort studies have demonstrated a high frequency of antiretroviral therapy (ART) modifications in clinical practice. However, many of these studies were conducted before the substantial improvements in HIV treatment that occurred between 2000 and 2010.
To update this information, investigators studied participants in the Danish HIV Cohort Study who initiated ART between 1997 and 2009 and were followed for ≥1 year. They examined the incidence of first and third treatment modifications for 3107 such individuals, comparing three periods of ART initiation: 1997–1999, 2000–2004, and 2005–2009.
