Neurology experts have long thought that complex neurological syndromes such as Parkinson disease (PD) should be managed by multidisciplinary teams. To test this idea, researchers conducted a nonrandomized, controlled trial in six Dutch community hospitals. Two of these hospitals were located in regions where an integrated care intervention was available, and the other four had access to only standard multidisciplinary care. Patients with severe cognitive impairment or comorbidities were excluded.
