Clinical trials have had inconclusive findings regarding the management of hypertension during hospitalization for acute ischemic stroke. To fill this knowledge gap, researchers conducted the China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke (CATIS), a large, multicenter, randomized clinical trial. Investigators enrolled 4071 patients within 48 hours after onset of ischemic stroke (78% thrombotic; median NIH Stroke Scale score, 4.0).
