No Link Between Fluoroquinolone Use and Retinal Detachment

A 2012 Canadian study of ophthalmologic patients identified a strong association between current oral fluoroquinolone exposure and retinal detachment (JW Inf Dis Apr 11 2012). That observation was biologically plausible, given the known association between fluoroquinolone use and tendinopathy, but the study's findings on current use and recent use of fluoroquinolones were discordant.
