Several psychotherapies, including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), aim to promote positive affect, which has been associated with resilience against major depression. In this first-of-its-kind study, investigators examined genetic influences on MBCT outcomes as determined by “ecological momentary assessment,” which evaluates individuals' affective states during daily routines.
The 126 participants with residual depression were genotyped and randomized to MBCT (8 weekly 2.5-hour group sessions) or treatment as usual (TAU).
