No Reduced Detection with Fair Bowel Preparation Quality

In clinical practice, endoscopists often rate bowel preparation using a four-point scale of excellent, good, fair, and poor. Many clinicians equate an excellent or good rating with an adequate examination and shorten recommended screening or surveillance colonoscopy intervals when preparation quality is rated as fair or poor. Unfortunately, the clinical definitions of the four preparation grades are not well established, and in recent studies, a preparation grade of fair versus optimal was not associated with reduced adenoma detection.
