Target Population: Primary care physicians and immunologists
Live viral and bacterial vaccines can cause serious infections in primary immunodeficiency patients. The safety of vaccines for such patients and family members is a source of confusion and concern for clinicians and families. Drawing on the Red Book: 2012 Report of the Committee on Infectious Diseases and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, the Medical Advisory Committee offers additional guidance on vaccinations that should be avoided and encourages routine vaccination when appropriate.
