Target Population: Clinicians and other healthcare workers providing care for infants and children at risk for severe infection with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
Since its licensure in 1998, recommendations for use of palivizumab have evolved. This monoclonal antibody has been shown to be effective in the prevention of severe lower respiratory tract disease from RSV and to reduce hospitalizations for severe RSV in high-risk children. The group of high-risk children who would most benefit from receipt of this passive immunization has been redefined several times.
