Lipodystrophy associated with HIV infection and specific antiretrovirals has been a prominent concern, but the issue has received less attention lately. In a recent observational study, 1840 patients with chronic HIV infection (66% male; mean baseline age, 45; mean duration of HIV infection, 14 years) treated between 2005 and 2012 at an Italian referral center for HIV-associated metabolic problems were evaluated for trends in fat distribution over time.
