Anti-Infliximab Antibodies Independently Predict Remission in Crohn Disease

Measurements of serum trough infliximab (IFX) levels and anti-infliximab antibody (ATI) levels have been advocated when patients with inflammatory bowel disease develop loss of response to infliximab; the results could guide clinicians in decisions on dose adjustments or regimen changes. However, one current limitation is that ATI levels are difficult to measure when IFX levels are adequate.

In the current industry-supported study, researchers assessed the relationship between IFX level, ATI level, and clinical disease activity in 483 patients with Crohn disease using an assay that detects ATI level regardless of IFX level. Remission was defined as a serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level ≤5 mg/L.
