In a controlled trial involving an ethnically homogeneous white population with serious mental illness (SMI) and overweight or obesity, 49% of patients enrolled in a fitness program achieved a clinically significant improvement in cardiovascular risk (either ≥5% weight loss or meaningfully improved fitness). Now, the same investigators report results of a “pragmatic” replication study of that program. Several authors have financial ties to the program.
