High rates of injuries are associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but the effect of ADHD treatment has not been thoroughly studied. To learn more, researchers used the Hong Kong registry of all public health facilities to examine data on 17,381 children and teenagers (age range, 6–19 years) with ≥1 methylphenidate prescription during 2001–2013. The study design used a within-subject comparison, which allowed assessment of each child's trauma-related emergency department (TRED) visits when either exposed or unexposed to methylphenidate.
