High-sensitivity troponin T (hsTnT) assays are in use in Europe but not approved in the U.S. Investigators performed a meta-analysis to determine the test characteristics of the Roche Elecsys hsTnT assay in detecting myocardial infarction (MI). Twenty-three published studies met the inclusion criteria. The authors reported results for cutoff values of 14 ng/L and 3–5 ng/L separately.
Among 20 papers that reported results at the 14 ng/L cutoff, the pooled sensitivity was 89.5% and the specificity was 77.1%. Six papers reported results at the 3–5 ng/L cutoff, finding a sensitivity of 97.4% and specificity of 42.4%.
