Isotretinoin, an effective therapy for nodulocystic and recalcitrant severe acne, is a high-grade teratogen. Despite the FDA's iPLEDGE program (https://www.ipledgeprogram.com/), unintended pregnancies continue to occur — and although most women know that isotretinoin is a teratogen, many have limited knowledge about contraception. Investigators developed a one-page chart detailing eight contraceptive options (Nexplanon implant, Mirena and ParaGard intrauterine devices [IUDs], Depo-Provera shot, NuvaRing, Evra patch, birth control pills, condoms, and withdrawal).
