Vorapaxar is a new type of antiplatelet agent that blocks thrombin-induced activation at the protease activated receptor 1. In patients with myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, or peripheral arterial disease (PAD), it reduces subsequent risks for cardiovascular death, MI, and stroke.
