The narrowband imaging (NBI) international colorectal endoscopic (NICE) classification differentiates conventional adenomas from lesions in the serrated class but has been criticized for not differentiating hyperplastic polyps (HPs) from sessile serrated polyps (SSPs).
Investigators assessed a new classification system termed the WASP (the Workgroup serrAted polypS and Polyposis classification), which utilizes NICE and four NBI criteria they proposed previously to characterize SSPs from HPs (irregular surface, cloud-like surface, dark spots in crypts, and indistinct edges).
