For patients already receiving anticoagulation therapy who undergo drug-eluting stent implantation, one randomized trial has demonstrated that oral anticoagulation (OAC) plus clopidogrel has similar ischemic benefit, with less bleeding, compared with triple therapy (OAC and dual antiplatelet therapy [DAPT]; NEJM JW Cardiol Jun 2013) and Lancet 2013; 381:1107). In this three-center randomized trial, investigators compared 6 weeks versus 6 months of clopidogrel in 614 patients receiving OAC and aspirin after drug-eluting stent implantation.
