As treatment for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection continues to evolve, it is becoming clear that fixed-dose single-pill regimens will become the norm (NEJM JW Gastroenterol Jun 2015 and Ann Intern Med 2015 Apr 24; [e-pub]).
In two manufacturer-funded, open-label, uncontrolled trials involving adults with genotype 1 HCV infection, researchers have evaluated the efficacy and safety of one such regimen: daclatasvir (a pangenotypic NS5A inhibitor) combined with asunaprevir (an NS3 protease inhibitor) and beclabuvir (a nonnucleoside NS5B inhibitor). In both trials, participants received the study medication twice daily for 12 weeks; the primary end point was sustained virologic response 12 weeks after treatment cessation (SVR12).
