Post–dural puncture headache (PDPH) due to excessive cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leakage is a well-known complication of lumbar puncture. Recently, neuroimaging techniques including radioisotope cisternography and magnetic resonance imaging have enabled the visualization of postpuncture CSF leakage in the epidural space. Now, researchers have studied the use of whole-spine, heavily T2-weighted magnetic resonance myelography after diagnostic lumbar puncture in 80 adults (51 female), of whom 29% had PDPH.
