Cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) inhibitors limit the transfer of cholesterol from high-density lipoproteins (HDL) to very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) or low-density lipoproteins (LDL). This inhibition results in higher HDL and lower VLDL and LDL cholesterol levels.
