Androgen Deprivation Therapy for Men with Prostate Cancer and Multiple Comorbidities

In patients with moderate or severe comorbidities, androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has a number of well-defined toxicities, including increasing rates of metabolic syndrome and osteoporosis. In addition, the impact on cardiovascular morbidity is strongly suspected, but the available evidence to date is mixed.

In a previous randomized trial of 206 men with localized but unfavorable-risk prostate cancer, overall survival was improved by adding 6 months of ADT to external beam radiotherapy (RT).
