Patients with resistant hypertension often have concomitant obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), but blood pressure response to treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in these patients is highly variable.
In this exploratory study, investigators in Spain sought to identify baseline patterns of circulating microRNAs (small bits of noncoding ribonucleic acids involved in cell regulation) that were associated with positive blood pressure responses to CPAP in a cohort of 24 men with resistant hypertension and OSA; three such microRNAs were identified in this cohort.
