Are you wondering when to have a mammogram? Most women want to do everything possible to prevent breast cancer, or at least to find it in the early, most treatable stage. Years of research and knowledge about breast cancer have again changed the recommendations about when to get mammograms. Recently, the American Cancer Society (ACS) published new guidelines for women at average risk for breast cancer. Average risk means you have not previously received a diagnosis of breast cancer, have not been found to have a genetic risk for the disease, and have not had radiation therapy to the chest at a young age.
