Evidence supporting any particular intervention for patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain is limited. In this U.K. trial, researchers evaluated the effect of acupuncture or Alexander Technique lessons versus usual care in 517 patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain (mean duration, 6 years). According to one website, the Alexander Technique is a “method for improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination … It is not a series of treatments or exercises, but rather a reeducation of the mind and body.”
