The 2012 CARE study, which examined the effectiveness of standard polypectomy for colorectal lesions 5 to 20 mm in size, found that large lesion size and serrated histology each predicted incomplete eradication. Polypectomy was found to be incomplete for 31% of SSPs compared with 7% of conventional adenomas.
In the current study, investigators retrospectively examined the risk for recurrence after endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of SSPs ≥10 mm performed at two hospitals (using surface-dye spraying followed by submucosal injection of saline plus contrast agent).
