U.S. and European guidelines recommend that patients undergoing anti–tumor necrosis factor therapy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) be screened for and vaccinated against certain infectious diseases. Overall adherence to recommendations is uncertain.
In this prospective intervention study from Denmark, clinicians received an oral 20-minute presentation at baseline and 2, 4, and 6 months and a pocket memory card with information about vaccinations. At baseline, half of 130 patients reported that they had received information about recommended vaccinations from healthcare professionals.
