Bullied students sustain pernicious sequelae, including vulnerability to suicidal attempts in adolescence (NEJM JW Psychiatry Jan 2016 and J Am Acad Child Adolesc Psychiatry 2015 Nov 25; [e-pub]) and impaired immune function (NEJM JW Psychiatry Aug 2014 and Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 2014; 111:7570). These researchers developed and studied a novel approach to lessen bullying in schools.
Fifty-six schools, enrolling 24,191 students aged 11 to 15 years, were randomized to the active intervention or to no intervention.
