As bariatric surgery's efficacy is increasingly recognized for patients with complications of obesity, endoscopic procedures to reduce gastric volume are emerging. Pilot studies have shown that endoscopic suturing to form a sleeve gastroplasty is technically feasible and safe, and can yield significant weight loss in selected patients (NEJM JW Gastroenterol Mar 2016 and Clin Gastroenterol Hepatol 2015 Dec 31; [e-pub]).
