The meningococcal conjugate vaccine Menveo is sometimes improperly prepared and administered by providers.
To identify errors in administration of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine Menveo (GlaxoSmithKline), researchers analyzed Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data from 2010 to 2015. There were 390 reports of administration of only one of the two Menveo components to 407 patients. (The liquid supplied in one vial must be used to reconstitute the powder in the other vial before administration.)
In two-thirds of cases, only the liquid component was administered, and in the remaining cases, the freeze-dried component was reconstituted with a different liquid (sterile water, saline, and other vaccines).
