Detection of conventional adenomas seems clearly linked to better quality bowel preparation. However, studies have not shown a clear impact of bowel preparation quality on the detection of serrated class lesions. These lesions are often detected by their mucous cap, which may appear thicker and endoscopically more prominent when the preparation is fair or good rather than excellent.
