Background and Objective: This is the third consensus-based guideline published since 2004 on management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in the Asia-Pacific region. Specific topics include proton-pump inhibitor (PPI)-refractory GERD (rGERD) — defined as persistent and troublesome symptoms after standard-dose PPI therapy for ≥8 weeks — and screening and management of Barrett esophagus (BE).
