Polyunsaturated fatty acids are associated with lower cardiovascular-related mortality, but the relation between different types of dietary fats and overall mortality is less clear. In this analysis, investigators examined dietary and mortality data from two prospective cohort studies that involved >126,000 health professionals who were free from cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes at baseline. During follow-up for as long as 32 years, 33,304 deaths occurred.
