Some Gastroenterologists Have High ADRs and Low Resection Rates for Normal Tissue

Previous studies generally report that high adenoma detection rates (ADRs) are accompanied by high resection rates of nonadenomatous polyps, including distal colon hyperplastic polyps and normal tissue such as mucosal polyps and lymphoid follicles.

In the current study from a single institution, researchers examined 1925 routine screening colonoscopies over 5 years and assessed the correlation between the ADR and the nonneoplastic polypectomy rate (NNPR), defined as the percent of patients with a polyp that was not an adenoma, sessile serrated polyp, or hyperplastic polyp.
