Patients with candidemia benefit from early initiation of systemic antifungal treatment (NEJM JW Infect Dis Jun 2014 and Crit Care Med 2014; 42:1423). The possible benefit of early or even empiric antifungal treatment for Candida peritonitis (CP) has been suggested. To assess that possibility, researchers conducted a subgroup analysis of 279 adult enrollees in a prospective, multicenter observational study in France.
