In reproductive-age women with early-stage invasive cervical cancer, surgery or radiation is associated with favorable prognosis. National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidance considers oophorectomy at the time of hysterectomy for early cervical cancer to be optional. Investigators used the population-based SEER database to examine trends and survival associated with ovarian conservation among 9419 women younger than 50 who underwent hysterectomy for stage I cervical cancer between 1983 and 2012.
